HIPAA Transactions and Code Sets News: I'm always surprised to see news about the "transactions and code sets" provisions of HIPAA; it always seems like they are just settled, and it's only big categorical changes, like the switch to the 5010 standards, that makes the news. But apparently there are still permutations and customizations required by certain payors, which is too bad since HIPAA was supposed to end that. Anyway, HHS has issued two new rules to further standardize 2 of the covered transactions: eligibility for coverage, and status of a claim.
