OIG slaps down HHS for lax HIPAA enforcement: The OIG has sent HHS a letter grading it's HIPAA enforcement activities. Apparently the OIG wants HHS to be more like it, at least in terms of aggressiveness. HHS' mechanism for complaints is good, but they need to investigate more, says the OIG. The OIG thinks that it's seen information in its own investigations that show that lots of healthcare players put medical information at "high risk," and HHS should be sniffing that out better.
