Texting PHI: Here's an article in the Wall Street Journal on the use of text messages to send PHI. Seem to make particular sense for things like medication reminders. But the same warnings apply to text messages as apply to email: it's not safe, it's unencrypted, it can be intercepted. Patients should authorize text messaging, after being warned of the dangers.
