OCR has published 2 new FAQs relating to when and how health plans may share PHI for care coordination with other plans serving the same individuals.  The first question actually alludes to one of the tricky elements of uses/disclosures that are for "health care operations" of a different covered entity: not all "operations" elements are acceptable in those situations.  Care coordination is one of the acceptable elements, though, so that's good.  The second question delves into when an entity can use PHI that it received for a different purpose to tell the individual about other products and services, without the communication being "marketing" (in which case the individual must authorize that use/disclosure).
