Slightly Off-Topic: Heparin with MSG: You've doubtless heard about the tainted Heparin causing deaths in America. Turns out the blood thinner in question was manufactured in China, and instead of the proper ingredients had over-sulfated chondroitin sulfate in it. It turns out over-sulfated chondroitin sulfate is substantially cheaper than the real stuff, does not occur naturally, and chemically reacts similarly to the ingredient that was supposed to be added. This looks beyond a shadow of a doubt to be an intentional attempt to taint the product to make a buck.

So, compare this story with this one. (OK, it looks like the 2nd link's linked story isn't there anymore, but the gist is that China executed the head of its version of FDA for failing to run the agency well. Given the vast array of tainted-product stories tarnishing China Inc.'s image, I expect heads to roll, quite literally, over the tainted Heparin problem.
