The Road to Hell:

If you're reading this, you're probably aware of the recent adoption in many, many jurisdictions (California started it, as usual, but many big states, including Texas, have jumped on board) of laws regulating data security and requiring business to take sometimes specific, sometimes amorphous steps to protect data that could be used for identity theft. Good intentions these laws have, in spades. But perhaps they are a little misguided, a little too confusing, a little to bureaucratic, . . . consider this.
