Protecting Your Own:

PCWorld magazine has a nice, short, link-filled article online giving tips on how individuals can go about trying to protect their PHI. Personally, I think Dr. Peel overstates the risks to your information, but if you tend toward the paraniod, or even if you just want to be extra cautious, there are some good ideas linked in the article outlining proactive steps you can take. Be forewarned, that in most cases, doctors and other providers of services can, and will, "fire" difficult or disruptive "customers." It's a two-way street, so be prepared if your "reasonable requests" become "unreasonable demands."
