Prescription Data Online: I can't remember if I posted on this, but here's a story about one quick way technology can help patients: by letting their doctors look at a patient's prescription history and current meds, potential drug interaction problems can be isolated. This would be bad news for "drug seekers" or others looking to obtain prescriptions for bad purposes (the type of conduct that Rush Limbaugh is accused of). And as always, there's a risk of bad uses of the technology by the gatekeepers at either end; doctors can snoop on their patients and potentially on other doctors whom they share with a patient, and pharmacies can look for marketing opportunities in the information. But, the benefits probably far outweigh the risks, IMHO.
