HIPAA and the BTK Killer: You may have heard the interesting news over the weekend about the capture of the Kansas serial killer known as the BTK Killer (stands for bind, torture and kill; nice, huh?). The guy was apparently a scout leader and a petty city bureaucrat, and a pain in the butt to his neighbors, but not what anyone would think of as a sadistic killer. He was linked to the crimes through his DNA evidence. And the police may have gotten that evidence through medical records, according to this article.

I know, that's a weak HIPAA link. But at least it's not Michael Jackson's trial.
