Yuck: Here's a pretty creepy story with some HIPAA implications. A doctor and former resident from the Martin Luther King/Charles R. Drew Medical Center in LA was found in a hotel room in Southern California with a dead former (is that redundant?) patient. He said he may have overmedicated the patient, on whom he was "practicing intubations." He also had the patient's medical charts, as well as videotapes showing male patients undergoing medical exams. The doctor apparently used his hospital ID to obtain the medical records, even though he was no longer at the hospital.

Sounds like a whole bunch of HIPAA violations.

Eeew.
