Quite a story from the Boston Globe about Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's recent computer failure and the lessons to be learned from it. Even the best computer systems crash sometimes. HIPAA requires (or will, probably) every provider to be prepared for this type of situation. Even if HIPAA didn't require it, it's something you should have considered and should be prepared for.
