BNA is reporting (subscription needed) that recent shakeups at the OIG have gotten the attention of the House Ways and Means Committee and a few US Senators. Seems that Janet Rehnquist has shuffled up the staff and several of the Clinton-era appointees and staffers have left, due to Ms. Rehnquist's suspicion of them. She apparently had originally sought to require all staffers to sign a loyalty pledge, but backed off of that. The turnover (including Mac Thornton) has frightened many in Washington, mainly because the existing folks were pretty good at chasing down fraud (or at least scaring the health industry into thinking they were).
