More OT, as Promised: {I post this primarily for the benefit of Amy Reddell, a big fan of the sport.}

What major sporting event starts this Saturday? Of course, it's the world championship of curling, to be held this year in the North American hotbed of curling, Bismarck, North Dakota. A real step-up from last year's site: Laussane, Switzerland. Look at it this way: you don't have to change your hard-earned dollars into Swiss Francs to pay off your bookie when the British team inexplicably knocks the Canadians and the Swedes out of the competition. Go to the site here. The championships this year are sponsored by Ford, official car of rocks sliding on ice (especially the Explorer).

Of course, the most awesome part about this is that there will be live webcasts of the games available here. That's right, you can follow the games live as they happen over the internet. There is one down side: there are 5 ice sheets at the Bismarck Civic Center, and only 2 will be webcast. The games getting the webcast will be the games with the most votes, so GO VOTE NOW!!! If you want to see USA-Russia in the women's 4th draw Sunday night at 7:00 in curling's version of the miracle on ice, you gotta vote for it. If you don't, you might just get stuck with Germany vs Scotland and Korea vs Norway, and you'll only have yourself to blame.

God, I love the internet.

(Politically incorrect curling joke: how do you spot the Polish guy at a curling event? He's the one that bets on the Italian team. How do you know the Mafia's involved in a curling event? The Italian team wins.)
